BEI utilizes more than 30 different aftermarket engine management programs and software packages to “tune” later model vehicles including Corvettes, Camaros and Mustangs -- just to name a few of the more popular vehicles being upgraded at BEI.  Some of the more exotic projects include a Pantera, Vipers and off road vehicles.  EFI tuning is also available for powerboats.  Plus, with our parts expertise, we know what parts will fit your vehicle and give you the best performance.

Tuning provides a method for obtaining peak vehicle performance … increased horsepower, torque, etc. and maximizing horsepower at the wheel.  It is also used for improving drivability of a high performance vehicle … idle and part throttle tuning.  Drivability tune for horsepower went you want it, but street and traffic friendly when you need it.  

Tuning is performed using customized software from companies like HP Tuner, Diablo Sport, Tunercat and Sniper, and results are verified on a DynoJet Chassis Dynamometer.  BEI’s DynoJet measures horsepower at the wheel up to 1200 Hp!

Dyno Tune:  GM from $500      Ford from $600

Street Tune:  GM from $250     Ford from $450

What's the difference?  A Dyno Tune optimizes wide-open-throttle tuning for more horsepower and torque. This is recommended for vehicles that have had a few (or more) modifications.  A Street Tune can get it close, but a Dyno Tune steps it up a notch.  Therefore, Street Tunes are recommended for high performance vehicles that are closer to stock.  

You know the horsepower of the engine, but do you know how much of that power makes it to the wheels?

One run on the chassis dyno, and you'll know.  Baker Engineering has a Dyno Jet chassis dynamometer that measures the horsepower and torque, among other things, of just about any kind of four-wheeled vehicle. Street cars, race cars, drag racers will all benefit from a session on the chassis dyno where they can expect to:

• Adjust and tune the vehicle to its unique potential
• Measure horsepower/torque
• Modify or upgrade the powertrain with proof of "before" and "after" performance
• Identify areas of power loss
• Measure air/fuel ratio
• Test different engine components (i.e. carburetors)
• Test fuels, lubricants, tires, nitrous or other power-related items
• Record fuel pressure; boost pressure

Single Pull:

$75 standard pull
$100 with air/fuel ratio

Tuning by the hour:

$150 / hr for first hour; $100 per additional hour (for testing and tuning)

Group Rates:

Available for car clubs or other groups with 10 cars or more
